Stuff for my new students and classroom

Hola!

Have I mentioned that I am excited for teaching in Honduras?  As you know, I graduated from CMU with an Elementary Education degree in May 2010.  I had no idea what I wanted to do next, going right into the classroom for some reason wasn't pulling at my heart.  So, now things have changed, and I feel completely called to Honduras to begin my first year of teaching in my own classroom!

I have been thinking of what I want to bring to Honduras with me to give to the students and to put up in my classroom.  Here are some of the things that I have started on!

Also--we are getting our flight information figured out shortly.  I am sure it will feel even more real once I have a ticket officially booked!

Remember making these bead designs when we were younger?! (Some of us, including myself, still make them at times!) Well I chose a heart for loving one another always, and the cross in the middle for always thinking about God.  Two things that my students and I can wear as a helpful reminder to always be the best that we can be!

Here are a few of the pictures I made to laminate and cut into puzzles for the kids to put together!
Instead of buying posters, I decided to save a bit of money and buy poster board and markers and make posters to put up!

  1. You are so prepared! The kids are going to love all of that. The necklaces look great, and it is clear that God will use your artistic skill to reach out through the children:

    1 Peter 4:10
10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

I can't wait read about your experiences,
    Mena
