I try to be as creative as possible with the letters we continue to learn, but it's always funny how I am still usually the only one who fully knows what is going on! I have learned to just laugh it off though.
My older student James, who is 4, can count to 50 on his own now (with my help transitioning from, for e
xample 39 to 40). He is such an intelligent boy! The other day I made new floor name tag pictures with each students name on it. I had James find his, which he successfully did, and then I tried something else with him--I had him tell me whose each picture was. He figured out where 12 of my 14 students sit now, with only two mess ups. I am sure he is using the first letter for the majority of his decoding, but I do have a couple of students with the same beginning letter--but either way, WOW! I was so proud of him. I can't wait to come and hopefully visit a few years down the road and see my students a few years older and speaking more English--that would be such an amazing opportunity! I have already prepared myself that they will most likely not remember me, but I will, without a doubt, remember each and every one of them. I love my students so much!
For the letter R we continued to have fun inside the classroom. Enjoy the pictures!
